Going to a Slumber Party - PECS Autism Social Skills Story - Girls Social Skills Therapy Book
A slumber party is a rite of passage for many tween girls. However, sleeping over can also cause a great amount of stress for many kids of any ability. To set their mind at ease, a social story can be just the ticket.
This story will walk your child through a typical girls slumber party. Let them know what is typically going to happen: Bring my own pillow and sleeping bag or blanket, playing games, eating snacks, watching movies, girl talk, breakfast in the morning, parents coming to pick up. Of course the story also assures your child, if they get sad, they can certainly come home.
This book has the added benefit of PECS Sentence Strips. This provides the additional benefit of attaching a picture to every word in the story. Because children with autism think in pictures, they also learn in pictures.
