What Happens When Friendship Changes - PECS Autism Social Skills Story
This book is for a moderate to high functioning child in the middle school and high school age. Sometimes children and adolescents with autism do not understand that friendship and acquaintance relationships change and can do so very quickly at these ages. This book can helpe explain these transitions.
Friendships can be very difficult to understand for a child with autism. Sometimes we have a friend (or we think we do) and suddenly this friend no longer wants to talk to us or hang out with us. This can result in hurt feelings, stalking behavior, persevering, and difficulty moving on.
This story will help your child understand that sometimes friendship does not last forever, that it is important to move on, and it is best to try and make a new friend.
